Risi Competizione Captures GTD Pro Pole at Watkins Glen

The No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 296 GT3 entry with Daniel Serra at the wheel captured the GTD Pro pole today for tomorrow’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen race for the IMSA WeatherTech Championship.

Serra clocked a fastest qualifying lap time of 1:44.829 at the 3.4-mile, 11-turn road course and ran a total of seven laps in the 15-minute qualifying session. The GTD Pro field has eight class entries and a 28-car field.

Serra is paired with Italian Davide Rigon, both Ferrari factory drivers. The duo finished second in last year’s Six Hours of the Glen race and went on to win the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup (IMEC) Championship for 2022.

Daniel Serra, qualifying driver No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 296 GT3:

“It was very nice but a little tricky. The front track was very dry and the backstretch was wet, so the track was evolving every lap. The car was very nice to drive. The team did a great job with the set up. We are now thinking about the race.”

Qualifying driver, Daniel Serra, gets a congratulations from Risi Competizione Team Principal Giuseppe Risi

The Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen race starts at 10:40 a.m. eastern on Sunday.

Sponsors for the 2023 season for Risi Competizione include Pennzoil, Michelin, OMP Racing and Rotiform.
